A federal grand jury in San Francisco today returned an indictment against a former executive of a large Taiwan-based color display tube (CDT) manufacturing company for his participation in a global conspiracy to fix prices of CDTs, a type of cathode ray tube used in computer monitors and other specialized applications, the Department of Justice announced.
Almighty Latin King and Queen Nation Gang Member Sentenced in Texas
Almighty Latin King and Queen Nation member John Guzman, of Big Spring, Texas, was sentenced to 210 months in prison after pleading guilty to a superseding indictment charging him with one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine and 100 kilograms or more of marijuana.
Two Plead Guilty in Texas in Counterfeit DVD Scheme
Osborne Lowe, of Dallas, Texas, and his son-in-law, Robert Campbell, Jr., of Tulsa, Oklahoma, pled guilty to copyright infringement and aiding and abetting in connection with their operation of a counterfeit DVD scheme. Lowe and Campbell admitted that during a six-month period, they pirated more than 151 movies.
Maryland Man Pleads Guilty to Bank Break-In
Earl Blake, of Capitol Heights, Maryland, pled guilty to breaking into a bank with intent to commit felony bank larceny. Blake caused more than $10,000 in damage to the bank’s ATM by attempting to cut it open with an electric saw.
Texas Physician Charged in $45 Million Health Care Fraud Scheme
A 55-count, second superseding indictment was returned charging Dr. Christina Clardy, a Houston physician, with conspiracy to commit health care fraud, health care fraud, and mail fraud, in connection with her participation in a scheme to defraud Medicare and Medicaid of approximately $45 million, $30 million of which was paid by Medicare and Medicaid.
